Seth MacFarlane is a multitasker and an all rounder. He’s an Emmy award-winning American comedian, singer, animator, screenwriter, producer, actor, voice actor and composer. Describing him as the most successful young person would not be exaggeration as MacFarlane was television’s youngest executive producer at 24. On May 4, 2008 MacFarlane has made a $100 million agreement with Fox to keep Family Guy and American Dad until 2012. And, this deal makes him world’s highest paid television writer. MacFarlane has appeared in several sitcoms, comedy and news programs, independent films, and other animated shows.

Among his most successful projects, or in other words, he’s best known as the creator and executive producer of animated series Family Guy and American Dad! Seth also served as the executive producer of the short lived TV series ‘The Winner’.

MacFarlane was born in Kent, Connecticut to Ann Perry and Ronald Milfton MacFarlane. He has English, Scottish and Welsh ancestry. MacFarlane developed an interest in illustration and started drawing cartoon characters Fred Flintstone and Woody Woodpecker during his childhood. At eight, Seth drew “Walter Crouton”, a comic strip for the ‘The Kent Good’ Times Dispatch.

MacFarlane joined Kent School and got his high school diploma in 1991. He next went on to study animation at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the same. During his teenage, Seth was interested to work for ‘The Walt Disney Company’ but changed his decision after receiving a degree from RISD. While studying in college, Seth created his thesis film entitled ‘The Life of Larry’. One of his professors at RISD helped him in submitting his cartoon to Hanna-Barbera.

After joining Hanna-Barbera, Seth started working as an animator and writer for Cartoon Network’s Cartoon Cartoon. His next projects were ‘Johnny Bravo’, ‘Cow and Chicken’, and Dexter’s Laboratory. He also wrote and created a short titled “Zoomates” for Frederator Studios’ Oh Yeah! Cartoons.

Seth MacFarlane created ‘Larry and Steve’, a sequel to ‘The Life of Larry’ in 1996. After watching it, executives at Fox asked him to create a series based on those characters and this commitment resulted in ‘Family Guy‘.

Family Guy has become Fox Network’s and Seth’s identity. He wrote three episodes of series namely, ‘Death Has a Shadow’, “Family Guy Viewer Mail 1″ and “North by North Quahog”. MacFarlane voiced Family Guy’s main characters - Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin and Glenn Quagmire, Tom Tucker and his son Jake and several other characters. In 2005, Seth MacFarlane created ‘Family Guy: Live in Vegas’ along with Family Guy composer Walter Murphy.

Seth co-created American Dad, with Matt Weitzman and Mike Barker. Seth also served as the executive producer of ‘The Winner’, a live-action sitcom.

As of now, Seth MacFarlane is busy in developing a ‘Family Guy’ spin-off called ‘The Cleveland Show’, to be released in 2009.

In 2008, MacFarlane released a series of web episodes known as Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy. In the very same year, MacFarlane served as a host to the Canadian Awards for the Electronic & Animated Arts’ Second Annual Elan Awards.

MacFarlane also made an appearance in an episode, entitled ‘Gilmore Girls’ episode “Lorelai’s Graduation Day”. He made a guest appearance on Fox’s ‘The War At Home’. On ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’, he portrayed the engineer Ensign Rivers. In 2006, Seth appeared on the short independent movie ‘Life is Short’. He guest appeared on radio talk-show ‘Loveline’. He has also appeared on late night television shows, most notably ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’.

In 2007, Seth made an appearance on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Three months after this, he was interviewed on Fox’s ‘Talkshow With Spike Feresten’.

He worked as the voiceover of not only ‘American Dad’ and ‘Family Guy’, but also in several other TV shows, being more precise- in an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force as Wayne; several characters on Adult Swim’s ‘Robot Chicken’.

In Bob Boyle’s animated kids’ series ‘Yin Yang Yo’, Seth portrayed the villain ‘The Manotaur’. In 2008 movie ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’, MacFarlane gave his voice to Johann Krauss. He’s to appear as a guest star in the animated movie ‘Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder.

MacFarlane frequently speaks on college and university campuses. On April 16, 2006, Stanford University’s ASSU Speakers’ Bureau invited him to address an audience of over 1,000 at Memorial Auditorium. On June 7, 2006, MacFarlane was invited by Harvard University’s class of 2006 to deliver the “class day” address. He has also delivered speeches at George Washington University, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Texas, the University of Missouri, and Bowling Green State University. On November 9, 2007, he spoke at Writers Guild of America rally in Culver City.

He is single yet. MacFarlane is an atheist, and supports gay rights and gay marriage. During the 2007-08, WGA Strike, MacFarlane publicly supported Writer’s Guild.

MacFarlane supports the Democratic Party and has donated $33,500 to Democratic causes. In addition, he has also donated $1,000 to U.S. President Barack Obama.

Currently, he resides in Los Angeles, California. Being one the richest men in world, he recently purchased a $13.5 million home. As per the latest reports revealed, he’s currently getting $100 million by 20th Century Fox TV for his most recent contract with them.
